Merry Christmas

Taking a break from listing a lot of new items in the shop to wish you all a Merry Christmas! Hope you get your fill of family and good food :)
I, for one, am looking forward to Christmas Eve service, seeing little ones run around with their new toys, and my aunt's banana pudding!

I plan to have plenty of new items in my Etsy shop to help you spend your new Etsy gift cards!

Rosina Ferragamo Schiavone

Starting something new here on the blog today. As I'm out hunting for new treasures, I often come across interesting labels with even more interesting stories! I wanted to start a new section-Know Your Vintage-where I give a little bit of history behind certain pieces in my shop to help you know and love them even more! Up first-Rosina Ferragamo Schiavone.

Finding information on her wasn't easy but there seems to be a consensus that where her brother was more conservative, Rosina designed edgy and avant-garde footwear and purses.
From Purse Blog
"Rosina Ferragamo Schiavone was Salvatore Ferragamo’s sister. She designed shoes between 1960 and 1975. Her designs tended toward animal skins and prints, cutouts and shoes with a dash of flash. She’s sought out among vintage collectors in the know."

Even without all of the knowledge on who she was, there is an obvious attention to detail and love of the out-of-the-ordinary that's present in her pieces. I recently found a pair of her heels while I was out and was immediately drawn to them. What first sparked my interest was the cut-out detail around the peep-toe.

I can just imagine some mid-century fashionista wearing these out on the town or a modern-day sartorial enthusiast rocking them at an upcoming holiday soiree!
Hopefully I'll find more of her unique, avant-garde designs during my hunt!

Check out these shoes as well as other goodies on my Etsy site www.etsy.com/shop/odevintageshop!

Holiday Flea-Recap

Posting this a little later than I wanted but here's a mini-recap of The Cleveland Flea's Holiday Market last weekend.
It was an event I was a bit apprehensive about doing given that it was two-days and right at the beginning of a very hectic holiday season but thanks to some wiser craft-show pros I decided to go for it and I'm so glad I did! The Cleveland Fleas have always been a positive experience. Not just because of great sales (although that definitely helps!) but I've met such wonderful vendors and customers that I hope to continue in relationship with.

November's Flea was held in the ballroom of the beautiful Slovenian National Home with live Christmas trees and wreaths in the courtyard. There was also a pop-up shop right off of the stairs.
Not only was the market two days but there was also a 'sneak peek' sponsored by Picadilly's, Jeni's and Sterle's on Friday night.
My roommate (left) and I with bellies full of delicious frozen yogurt and beer at the sneak peek!
My neighbor, 23 Skidoo's teepee dressing room was the clear winner of the Flea. The illuminated mannequin in the back left was a close second.
Because of all of the craziness (and my forgetfulness) on Saturday, I was only able to take a few pictures of my setup on Sunday.
Day two set-up after doing a bit of rearranging due to reduced inventory. Not such a bad problem to have :)
Happy customers! My friend Jackie (on the left) was also selling vintage and handmade leather goods that weekend. Check her etsy shop out at Parivrtta!

I feel so unbelievably blessed by all of the vendors, customers, and the totally awesome Flea crew. The success and fun I had last weekend solidified my desire to keep ode{vintage} going and see what else God has in store for me. Thank you all for your support!
Can't wait to see what 2014 will bring!
